Two Cardiff secondary schools have been closed following a report received by South Wales Police on Sunday evening.
Llanishen High School and Eastern High School are both affected by the precautionary closure, agreed jointly by the police force and Cardiff Council.
Officers confirmed the decision was made to safeguard pupils while enquiries are carried out.
The specific details of what prompted the report have not been revealed, with South Wales Police stating only that the matter remains under active investigation.
The force emphasised that the decision to close both institutions was not taken without careful consideration.
Superintendent Mark Kavanagh addressed the closure, stating: “We have come to the decision, with support from Cardiff Council, to keep these schools closed on Monday in order to avoid risk, following a report which was made to police on Sunday evening. This report is currently under investigation.”
He stressed that the well-being of everyone connected to the schools had been paramount in reaching this conclusion.
“This decision was not taken lightly but was made with the safety of pupils, staff and the wider school communities in mind,” the superintendent added.
