Britney Spears felt “ashamed and embarrassed” when she was arrested on suspicion of a DUI in Ventura County.

“She was incredibly emotional,” the insider told Page Six. “It’s been a very hard couple of months.”

Meanwhile, another source claimed that the pop sensation was “crying and very tearful” when she was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol.

“She doesn’t want to let anyone down, including her fans,” continued the confidant. “The last thing she wants is to be judged publicly all over again.”

“She’s also embarrassed because of how it could affect her sons,” the insider said, referring to her two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19.

“She loves them very much and never wants them to feel like she’s letting them down,” a tipster added.

For those unversed, Britney was detained on DUI charges in Ventura County on March 4th. She was then released on the morning of Thursday, March 5.

Addressing her arrest, the California Highway Patrol told People magazine that the Toxic singer was “driving erratically at a high rate of speed … showed signs of impairment and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests.”

The law enforcement department added that “she was subsequently arrested for a violation of California Vehicle Code section 23152(g), driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol.”
