Imran’s sister also complies with non-bailable arrest warrant over November 26, 2024 protest case
RAWALPINDI:
The Rawalpindi Police on Tuesday arrested an armed individual near Aleema Khan on Adiala Road and informed her of the incident, officials said.
The suspect, identified as Arif Chatha, a resident of Multan, was apprehended in close proximity to Aleema, which police described as a serious security breach.
Authorities recovered a licenced pistol from him during the arrest.
To verify his identity, police summoned Opposition Leader of the Punjab Assembly Mian Qureshi who confirmed that he did not recognise the individual.
An investigation is ongoing to determine Chatha’s motives and any possible connections.
Aleema complies with arrest warrant in Rawalpindi protest case
Earlier today, Aleema complied with a non-bailable arrest warrant in connection with a case registered at Sadiqabad Police Station over the November 26, 2024 protest in Rawalpindi.
She complied with the court order at the Marble Factory checkpoint, where she signed documents confirming execution of the arrest warrant.
The warrant had been issued by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) after she failed to appear in court, and her request for a one-day exemption had been rejected a day earlier.
The ATC had directed the Superintendent of Police, Rawal Division, to ensure her arrest and production before the court. Following compliance with the warrant, Aleema is expected to appear before the court on Wednesday.
