The day following Adam Peaty’s wedding to Holly Ramsay, his estranged brother James made a provocative social media statement that lasted just quarter of an hour before vanishing.
James uploaded an archived photograph to his Instagram Story showing himself alongside their mother Caroline positioned in front of Bath Abbey, the very venue where the Olympic swimmer and his 25-year-old bride had exchanged vows on Saturday.
The post bore a “Merry Christmas” caption written in cursive lettering, accompanied by a remix of Speak Softly, Love from the 1972 Francis Ford Coppola classic The Godfather.
The musical selection has prompted speculation that James may have been drawing parallels between the Ramsay family and the film’s fictional Corleone crime dynasty, with Adam cast as the outsider.
His Instagram feed had been cleared of all other content.
James had been excluded from the guest list amid serious allegations against him.
The rift between the brothers became public knowledge when Adam returned from his Budapest stag party, which Gordon Ramsay had attended.

Police escorted the 30-year-old athlete from his aircraft at Manchester Airport after he received threats.
James, 34, was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of harassment following claims he had directed verbal threats at his brother.
A police statement at the time confirmed: “The man was released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.”

PASources have suggested that Adam believes their mother has been enabling James’s behaviour, which has widened the gulf between them.
The gold medallist addressed the situation in a November social media post, stating that he, Holly and his sister Bethany “cannot go into detail given an ongoing police investigation into serious matters that arose long before recent events”.
The wedding itself laid bare the extent of the family fractures.
Caroline was barred from attending the ceremony entirely, having initially threatened to observe proceedings from the street before her husband Mark persuaded her it would prove too distressing.
Mark did secure an invitation, though reports indicate he was directed to sit at the rear of the venue, positioned behind plus-ones, and was not captured in any photographs.
The following day, he was spotted looking dejected while walking his dog near the family’s Staffordshire home.

In contrast, Adam’s sister Bethany played a prominent role, serving as a bridesmaid alongside Holly’s sister Tilly.
The swimmer’s relationship with his parents has reportedly reached its lowest point.
Caroline was described as being “beside herself” after missing her son’s nuptials, telling the Daily Mail that she felt Holly and Adam “had cut my heart out”.
A family member informed The Sun that she had ultimately accepted “it would be too sad, and she doesn’t want to spoil his big day”.
Adam’s aunt Louise, also absent from the celebration, reportedly sent a scathing text message to the swimmer beforehand: “I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame.”
She added: “Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.”
