James Peaty, the 34-year-old brother of Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty, is believed to have been detained at his Uttoxeter residence on Monday following allegations of harassment.
The arrest relates to purported threats made whilst the athlete was celebrating his stag party in Budapest.
The incident prompted authorities to provide a police escort for the three-time Olympic gold medallist upon his arrival at Manchester Airport on Sunday.
Staffordshire Police confirmed to The Sun they had arrested a man from the Uttoxeter area on November 11 on suspicion of harassment, releasing him on conditional bail whilst investigations continue.

The 59-year-old nursery manager was reportedly left at home caring for Adam’s five-year-old son George whilst celebrations took place with guests including Victoria Beckham and Tana Ramsay.

Sources suggest the swimmer has grown distant from his working-class origins following his relationship with the celebrity chef’s family.
Caroline’s sister Louise Williams publicly condemned the treatment, stating that Holly had “inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever.”
The brothers’ relationship deteriorated significantly after Adam discussed James’s “demons” and past substance abuse issues in his 2021 autobiography, The Gladiator Mindset.
Family sources indicate James felt misrepresented as “a bum” in the publication, with locals subsequently questioning him about the revelations.

Mark Peaty expressed concern about the deteriorating relationship between his sons, acknowledging that whilst sibling disputes are commonplace, the current situation had spiralled beyond normal boundaries.
“They’re brothers. They’ve always been close but like any normal family, brothers fight, argue, fall out, make-up and start all over again,” he told The Sun.
Sources close to James maintain he poses no threat to his Olympic champion brother, dismissing the necessity of airport security measures.
They highlighted that James lacks driving capabilities, questioning how he could have reached the airport.
