LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court has ordered immediate release of a citizen allegedly kept in illegal confinement following losses in cryptocurrency business dealings.

Acting on court orders, a bailiff recovered Faisal Rehman, who was allegedly kept in illegal confinement, and produced him before the judge.

The court ordered his immediate release.

The case was heard by Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh on a petition filed by Shagufta Bibi, the mother of Faisal.

According to the petitioner, the man had been illegally confined for the past three months by a factory owner in Sahiwal.

The petitioner stated that her son was involved in online business.

She submitted that the factory owner had alleged that Faisal had caused losses worth millions of rupees in cryptocurrency trading.

On this pretext, he allegedly detained Faisal forcibly until the claimed losses were recovered.

The petitioner also claimed that the factory owner had forced her to sign an affidavit under coercion. The petition had sought directions from the court for the recovery and release of Faisal, which was granted following his production before the court.
