Television presenter Dan Walker and Dragon’s Den star Sara Davies have been criticised by social media users for sharing posts celebrating their attendance at Adam Peaty’s wedding to Holly Ramsay.

The Olympic swimmer married the daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay at Bath Abbey on Saturday, but the occasion was overshadowed by a bitter family rift.

Followers branded the celebrities’ posts as “tone deaf” and “insensitive” given that Peaty’s mother Caroline, father Mark and brothers James and Richard were absent from the ceremony.

The 31-year-old athlete had reportedly uninvited his mother and blocked messages from relatives ahead of the nuptials, leaving his immediate family 150 miles away while A-list guests including the Beckham family attended the celebration.

Walker, who appeared alongside Peaty on Strictly Come Dancing, posted a photograph of the order of service from the ceremony.

He wrote: “We had a lovely time celebrating with @adam_peaty & @hollyramsayy yesterday. Great wedding, top people, wonderful service, unforgettable reception, brilliant speeches and we got to sing some bangers in the church too.”

Davies, another former Strictly contestant who befriended the swimmer on the show, shared images documenting their friendship over the past four years.

She described it as “a real honour to sit in Bath Abbey and watch him get emotional as the love of his life walked down the aisle.”

The businesswoman added that the service was “beautiful” and praised the wedding food as the best she had ever experienced.

The posts drew swift condemnation from followers of both celebrities.

One user told Walker: “Pity his mum and dad didn’t enjoy it too. Insensitive post,” while another remarked: “Nice Christian thing to do sticking it to his mother for not getting an invite. Well done Saint Dan.”

Others described the broadcaster’s decision to share the post as “poor judgment given the devastating circumstances for the Peaty parents.”

Davies faced similar criticism, with one follower writing: “There is something very wrong with celebrities sharing their attendance – when the most important person (regardless of who was right/wrong) was not there.”

Another commented: “That brakes my heart that you get the privilege to put this. As a mother of a son it breaks my heart.”

The family dispute reportedly began when Caroline was not invited to Holly’s hen party.

Tensions escalated further when Peaty contacted police after his brother James allegedly sent threatening messages while the swimmer was on his stag do.

A family source described the situation as “disgusting” that the wedding proceeded without Peaty reaching out to his parents beforehand.

The family’s distress deepened following claims that Peaty’s sister Beth informed their father Mark before Christmas that he could attend the ceremony, but would have to sit at the back of the church behind plus-ones.

The source told The Sun: “Mark was told he could sit behind plus-ones who Adam has probably never even seen or spoken to.”

Peaty’s swimming coach Melanie Marshall delivered a reception speech in place of his brothers.
