An 80s heartthrob looked unrecognisable when he shared an adorable childhood snap of himself on Christmas day.

The Australian actor and singer, 57, shared a sweet festive photo of himself sat on Santa’s lap as a young lad as he took a trip down memory lane.

He wore a black jacket with shorts as he paired the look with white socks and trainers.

Penning the sweet photo, he wrote: ‘Merry Christmas to everyone near and far ❤️ I hope your day is filled with joy and relaxation … Here’s to 2026!!’

He is best known for starring in the soap Neighbours and famously dating Kylie Minogue, 57, in 1986 for three years.

But can you guess who it is?

That’s right, it’s Jason Donovan!

Jason met Kylie when they starred as onscreen lovers, Scott and Charlene in the 80s Australian soap Neighbours and had a real-life romance for four years before they both went on to launch hugely successful pop careers.

Their onscreen wedding union was an even bigger attraction when it aired in the UK, drawing 19.6 million viewers, making it Britain’s third most-watched show of 1988.

The star spoke about the love affair with Jamie Laing on his most recent Great Company podcast.

‘Were you in love with Kylie?’ Jamie asked him.

‘I think so, yeah,’ Jason replied, almost spitting out his water with laughter.

‘Our connection and what we shared was on another level, mate. On another level.

‘With Kylie, she started out as this sort of rough mechanic on Neighbours. A sort of tomboy like character. And just sort of blossomed.

‘It was a phenomenal thing to watch and then came Locomotion. Initially, I think it was probably more her chasing me and then I think it sort of flipped a little bit.’

The pair’s 1988 hit Especially For You was a huge hit which sold a million copies and became number 1 in the UK as it became a defining song of the late 80s.

He is now married to his wife of 17 years, Angie, with whom he has three children, Jemma, 24, Zac, 23, and Molly, 13.

But Jason launched his own successful pop career with tracks like Too Many Broken Hearts and Sealed With A Kiss in addition to a Number One album, Ten Good Reasons.

The star sadly had a well-documented struggle with substance abuse in the 90s, and recalled being left so paranoid he was convinced MI5 were chasing him.

Speaking on Jamie Laing’s podcast, Jason said: ‘I got vilified in the 90s for announcing on a news show once that “Why did I take drugs? because I liked them” which was the truth at the time’.

Recalling binging on three grams of cocaine, he said: ‘Sure, there were days, weekends that would begin on Thursday and sometimes not end until the following Tuesday or whatever’.

‘But it was a binge, it wasn’t a heroin type situation that was consistent. Your body has to shut down particularly with something like cocaine at some point’.

Before adding: ‘The paranoia particularly with cocaine, starts to set in, 24 hours in, you think the MI5 are outside your window’.
