McDonald’s Monopoly is back — but fans say it won’t make up for ‘absurd’ price hikes.

The popular McDonald’s Monopoly game returns to the US on October 6, offering prizes including free food and a $1 million jackpot.

But for many customers, the thrill of winning can’t outweigh soaring menu costs.

Over 30 items are eligible this year, including the Big Mac, which has become a poster child for rising burger prices.

‘Wake me up when they bring back the 29 cent hamburgers and 39 cent cheeseburgers,’ a customer wrote on Reddit.

‘Maybe if they brought back affordable prices. Now I just look at it as a cash grab, obtained by pulling our heart strings about when the world actually made sense,’ another person claimed.

Others pointed to the infamous McMillions scandal — when Jerome Jacobson stole more than $24 million in cash and prizes between 1989 and 2001 — as a reason to steer clear.

The crime  inspired a six-part documentary that left customers swearing off McDonald’s Monopoly forever.

Stung by claims it had priced out loyal fans, McDonald’s last year rolled out cut-price deals in a bid to lure them back.

Earlier this month, the chain rolled out a price promise on its combo meals, keeping them 15 percent cheaper than if purchased separately.

Last year Big Mac meals hit $18. The chain countered this with a $5 four-item meal deal that launched last summer.

‘Customers are telling us they need more of the everyday value and affordability that defines the McDonald’s brand,’ said Joe Erlinger, head of McDonald’s US business.

McDonald’s also launched a limited-edition Gold Sauce on September 3, inspired by South Carolina BBQ.

Some customers called it a ‘Chick-fil-A knockoff,’ while others appreciated the flavor.

The sauce comes with new menu items including the Gold Snack Wrap, Bacon Gold McCrispy, and Bacon Gold Deluxe McCrispy.

The rollout is part of a broader push to recover from slumping sales. McDonald’s profits fell 3.6 percent in the first quarter, though sales have since rebounded.

For the first time, the Monopoly game will have both physical peel-off stickers and app-based digital stickers — although all winnings must be redeemed on the McDonald’s app.

Players can ‘peel’ them to win instant prizes, or collect game pieces that are the gateway to bigger prizes. Instant food prizes are awarded as soon as customers ‘peel’ them. They will be shown, for example, ‘free Big Mac’.

But to get the grand prizes, including one million American Airlines AAdvantage miles, a $10,000 Lowe’s shopping spree, fans must collect two, three or four pieces of the same color to win.

Physical stickers must be peeled from packaging and then scanned in the McDonald’s app.

Fans who sign up to the app between today and October 5 will get 500 Rewards points.
