Migrant crisis: Andrew Pierce slams Keir Starmer’s immigration crackdown plans as ‘admission of failure’

Andrew Pierce has launched a scathing attack on Sir Keir Starmer’s immigration plans, branding the government’s new landlord scheme an “admission of failure”.

The criticism comes as the Home Office appeals to landlords to help house migrants following record Channel crossings this year.

Serco, one of three private contractors working for the Home Office, has launched a recruitment drive offering landlords five-year guaranteed full rent deals at taxpayer expense.

The initiative features a website page headlined “Calling all landlords where Serco states it is responsible for more than 30,000 asylum seekers across some 7,000 properties.”

Speaking on GB News, Andrew Pierce blasted the idea and said: “This is spin from No10 but we will tell you what they are saying. I can sniff spin a mile off.”

Bev Turner laughed and said: “I could see the end of that sentence coming and thought he is not going to say this.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

Andrew said: “Keir Starmer is looking to launch a crackdown on immigration. He has been there since July why has he not done this already?”

Bev said: “Plans include tougher rules to stop foreign students accessing long term visas by working in low paid jobs, for example, as care workers and shop assistants.”

Andrew said: “The Tories did that.”

Bev added: “The Home Office has also launched a recruitment drive which will see landlords, this bit makes me want to pull out my own eyelashes, a recruitment drive which sees landlords given a five-year guaranteed full rent deal at your door.”

Andrew fumed: “That is an acknowledgement by the government that the small boats are going to continue crossing the channel for five years.

“It’s an admission of failure. So a five-year deal that is astonishing.”

Landlords interested in the scheme have been invited to an event at a hotel in Malvern Hills, Worcestershire, next month.

Serco is primarily seeking properties in the north west, the Midlands, and the east of England. The number of migrants arriving in Britain via small boats has reached unprecedented levels in early 2025.

Home Office figures show 8,064 people have crossed the Channel in the first four months of this year, setting a new record.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer admitted in March that combating the small boats crisis had become “very challenging”.

The government says it is working on “reducing the number of people we are required to accommodate through a rapid increase in asylum decision-making”.

It also claims to have removed “more than 24,000 people with no right to be in the UK”.
