Gerwyn Price has congratulated Luke Littler on his triumph following the 19-year-old’s victory in Premier League night seven on Thursday.

Price was leading 5-0 before his teenage rival mounted a stirring comeback to win in Dublin.

It was a night of missed opportunities for the Welshman, who had overcome Luke Huumphries and Josh Rock earlier in the night.

However, Price didn’t appear too disappointed with the 41-year-old congratulating Littler on social media following their epic encounter.

Taking to Instagram, he said: “What a night in Dublin once again, amazing atmosphere and support all night, a night that slipped away somehow but points on the table is the main thing.

“Well done to @lukethenukelittler for a great comeback.”

Price sits third in the standings with 12 points to his name, with Littler four ahead in second. Jonny Clayton, who has won 11 matches, occupies the summit at this stage.

Littler didn’t appear himself during the early stages of the final, with Price dominating as he surged into a 5-0 lead.

Speaking after his triumph, the teenager confessed it had been a ‘strange’ evening and admitted he had expected to lose.

“I have no idea how I’ve done that. I got the first leg and had a bit of fun. I got my 180 and Gez set up double tops so I waved them goodbye and the rest is history,” he said.

“It was very strange. I was gone. The first leg was a bit of fun, got my 180 and then waved them goodbye because when Gerwyn Price is on double tops he doesn’t usually miss.

“I was so gone. I might as well as have been off stage, but this is darts, things happen.

“I was gone. Darts is a silly old game.”

Littler also said that he was eager to reel in Clayton as he chases a second Premier League crown, having previously won the title in 2024.

“I played very well against Stephen [Bunting in the quarter-finals] and got the two points,” he said.

“Michael [Van Gerwen], same as me, was waiting about but once we got in the bull room he was like ‘ah well, we got two points’ so I said ‘thank you for your two points’ because he pulled out when I should have played him in week three.

“It was another brilliant game with Michael and then the final. I’ve got nothing to say.

“We don’t really talk about the play-offs. We just go along and always have a laugh with each other.

“The table was really close before tonight. I am closing that gap on Jonny [Clayton]. Most of the time we have a laugh.

“I’ve finished top in the past two years and obviously i want to do it again. With the start that Jonny had and the start I had, it’s good to see that I’m now right behind him. We’ll go chasing.”
