The Excise Department carried out a major anti-narcotics operation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday, recovering 20kg of crystal meth, commonly known as ice, worth millions of rupees and arresting a suspect, officials said.

According to the department, the Excise Intelligence Squad acted on a tip-off and foiled an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of the drug.

The operation, conducted on Dera-Daraban Road near the DI Khan Toll Plaza, recovered the ice from a car’s spare tyre and a concealed compartment.

The raid was carried out under the supervision of Excise Intelligence Provincial In-Charge Saud Khan Gandapur and Anti-Narcotics Control Excise & Taxation Officer (ETO) Majid Khan.
