Actor Yashma Gill has revealed that her decision to enter the entertainment industry once caused a painful rift with her father, who stopped speaking to her for nearly a year after she began pursuing acting as a career.

Gill said the disagreement emerged when she returned to Pakistan after completing her education in Australia. Although she had long felt drawn to the world of showbusiness, the decision to pursue acting did not sit well with her father, who held reservations about the industry.

The actor explained that once she formally stepped into television acting, the tension at home deepened. According to her, her father chose not to speak to her for almost a year, reflecting the seriousness of his opposition to her chosen profession.

Gill shared these personal reflections during a recent appearance on a private television channel’s special transmission for Ramazan, where she spoke about the early struggles behind her career and the challenges she faced within her own family.

She recalled that the silence between them eventually began to break during the holy month. When she greeted her father, he responded, a small moment that marked the first step toward reconciliation after months of distance.

The relationship continued to improve when Gill planned to perform Umrah and needed a male guardian to accompany her. She asked her father to travel with her, and he agreed.

According to the actor, the journey proved to be a turning point. As her father witnessed people recognising and respectfully greeting his daughter because of her work, his perspective gradually began to shift.

Gill said the experience helped him realise that she might be on the right path. Since then, their relationship has grown stronger, a personal story that has also drawn attention and praise from fans on social media.
