Alan Carr has splashed out on a £3.25million castle in the Scottish Borders – in a hark back to his triumphant Traitors win.

The comedian, 49, enjoyed a fame resurgence last year after emerging victorious on the first series of Celebrity Traitors.

And clearly a fan of the iconic Ardross castle, where the show is filmed, Alan has now purchased his very own baroque abode – which he plans to turn into a luxury hotel and spa.

Alan revealed to The Sun that he has signed a seven-figure deal with Disney+ to film a series documenting the renovation of Ayton Castle.

The sprawling estate features a whopping 16 bedrooms, 160 acres of gardens and even its own miniature railway.

Alan said of the purchase: ‘Some men when they have a midlife crisis buy a Lamborghini or grow a ponytail, but me – I want my very own castle.

‘Since I was a boy in Northampton, I’ve always dreamt big, and have always been enchanted with the history and romance of a stately home.

‘As I turn 50, I feel it’s time, all I want is a turret to call my own — get me over that drawbridge.’

The renovation series, which has the working title Castle Man, is set to take on a similar set up to his show with Amanda Holden.

The show is reportedly being produced by Expectation, the same company responsible for Clarkson’s Farm.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Alan for comment.

And it could be coming at the right time as it was revealed just last week that his and Amanda’s hit BBC home renovation show could be rested this year after landing his castle-themed renovation series.

The new deal means Alan is unlikely to have time to film his and Amanda’s hit BBC series The Italian Job this year amid his packed work schedule.

On top of that, the Celebrity Traitors winner has reportedly landed jobs with two other streamers set to begin this year, while his diary is already jam-packed after wiping out most of 2027 with a huge stand-up tour.

A source told the Daily Mail that there were also issues with the location for the renovation show, with Amanda and Alan pushing for Japan while the BBC were keen on the cheaper and more accessible Scandinavia.

The insider explained: ‘As time went on both Amanda and Alan’s diaries were filling up with other projects and it soon became impossible to allocate enough filming time this year.

‘It looks like the show will take a hiatus this year while both Amanda and Alan settle on a new destination they both love and can both find enough room in their diaries to accommodate the huge filming commitment. It will be back though!’

The Daily Mail has contacted the BBC and Alan and Amanda’s representatives for comment.

Amanda and Alan’s hit renovation series The Italian Job was previously reported as one of the biggest entertainment shows of the year when it aired.

The success of the fan-favourite programme quickly sparked a string of follow-ups, including their hugely popular Spanish Job, Greek Job and an Italian Job Christmas Special.

Their latest outing, Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job, has proven to be their biggest success yet, pulling in an impressive four million viewers per episode.

The eight-part BBC renovation series follows best friends Amanda and Alan as they take on a crumbling property on the Greek island of Corfu.

Across the series, the duo battle structural disasters, design dilemmas and ambitious DIY projects as they attempt to transform the dilapidated home into a dream getaway.

News of the programme potentially being rested for the year comes days after the Daily Mail revealed Alan is set for another streaming project – The F*** List on Amazon Prime Video

According to The Sun’s TVBiz column, he will join fellow comics including Jack Dee, Tom Allen and Joanne McNally as they hit the road to experience some of the things people say you should do before you die.

This four-part series will see them visit Iceland and the Canary Islands, as well as locations in England and Scotland.

The programme is set to hit screens later this year.
