Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, father of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday due to health concerns, Indian media reported.

While the family has not formally confirmed the reason for his hospitalisation, all of Khan’s children reportedly gathered at the hospital to be with him. Salman Khan was seen arriving at the hospital and later leaving under tight security. The actor, dressed in a black T-shirt and cap, did not speak to the media outside the hospital.

Salim Khan, who turned 90 in November 2025, is regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of Indian cinema. Alongside his writing partner Javed Akhtar, he formed the iconic Salim–Javed duo, credited with revolutionising mainstream Hindi cinema in the 1970s.

Their landmark films include Sholay, Zanjeer, and Deewaar, which were not only commercial blockbusters but also left a lasting cultural impact.
