Roxy Jacenko is well known for lavishing her young children with expensive gifts.

But one pricey present, which she gave her son, Hunter, for his 11th birthday last year, has attracted controversy.

The 45-year-old gifted Hunter a $2,700 electric bike – also known as an e-bike.

Electric bikes are traditional bicycles fitted with electric motors and can travel at speeds up to 25km/h.

E-bikes have come under fire in recent months, with some critics believing the vehicles should be ‘banned’ after 41 Australians were killed in e-bike-related accidents.

But others, like Roxy, believe there are plus sides, including that the bikes are ‘cost-effective, green transport.’

Roxy defended her decision to give her son access to the e-bike, though she admitted her choice was ‘contentious’.

‘Hunter’s bike was a point of contention at home, much like his first skateboard,’ she told news.com.au.

‘I wanted him to have independence with his friends.’

Roxy explained that a helpful feature of the e-bikes is the GPS tracking, which allows her to keep an eye on where her son is travelling.

‘I can monitor my son’s routes and remotely disable the bike if he ventures beyond our agreed boundaries and knowing he is being supervised encourages him to take fewer risks while he’s out riding,’ she said.

Roxy pulled out all the stops to celebrate her son’s birthday last year, and surprised him with the very lavish present.

Hunter was given the $2,700 Flight Risk FR606 electric bike on his special day, and enjoyed a pizza-making cooking class for lunch with his friends.

He also received a Goorin Bros hat from his sister Pixie as well as a Canyon push bike which retails for $2800.

Rounding out his gifts, Hunter received Rubik’s cubes, Diary of a Wimpy Kid novels and a Blox Fruits plush toy.

It comes after the PR maven revealed the extreme measures she goes to in order to maintain her goal weight of just 50.9kg.

She told Daily Mail she is doing daily contrast therapy, which involves taking baths in warm and cold water from Monday to Friday.

This method is believed to help to improve blood circulation throughout your body.

She also does 40 minutes in an infrared sauna each day before completing a 45-minute workout on the treadmill at speed 6 and rolling hills, as well as low-weight exercises.

Roxy revealed she eats just one meal a day at dinner which is focused on protein only.

‘I don’t do breakfast or lunch, instead I do dinner at 7pm each day which is focused on protein only and salad,’ she explained.

‘Last night I had grilled calamari, rocket, pear and Parmesan salad. If I’m desperate for something sweet, I have dark chocolate-covered sultanas.’
