Drivers are being warned of heavy congestion on the M25 this morning following two different incidents, which have caused “significant delays”.

Motorists face up to 90 minutes of delays on the M25 between Junction 9 (Leatherhead) and Junction 11 (Chertsey).

The first collision took place just after 6.30am this morning between J10 (Wisley) and J11 (Chertsey), with traffic being stopped briefly.

Emergency services attended the scene, while National Highways are in the final stages of recovery.

At present, only lane four is closed, with traffic flowing at slower speeds on lanes one, two and three.

The second collision between J9 (Leatherhead) and J10 (Wisley) happened just 15 minutes later, with it being described as “more severe”.

Recovery is now complete and all lanes have now reopened between J9 and J10, National Highways reported.

Since both incidents were so close to each other in proximity along the M25, traffic merged, causing “heavy congestion”.

Overall delays between Junction 9 (Reigate) and Junction 11 (Chertsey) are estimated to be around 90 minutes longer than normal.

Delays are now easing, with vehicles beginning to move more freely on the busy motorway just after rush hour.
