United States Consul General Stetson Sanders paid his first official visit to Faisalabad and called on Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar at the Commissioner’s Office, where both sides discussed wide-ranging areas of bilateral cooperation, development initiatives and economic opportunities.

Welcoming the visiting dignitary to the “Manchester of Pakistan,” the commissioner highlighted Faisalabad’s industrial strength, particularly in textiles, and proposed the establishment of an incubation centre to promote research, innovation and entrepreneurship among youth.

He also suggested organising a three-day “Made in Faisalabad” exhibition to showcase value-added products from Faisalabad division, including Chiniot, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh.

The commissioner briefed the consul general on agriculture, noting that wheat cultivation this season exceeded targets, and shared progress on post-flood rehabilitation in Jhang and Chiniot.

He outlined ongoing municipal reforms, environmental protection measures, industrial relocation plans, foreign-funded water projects, electric transport initiatives and efforts to curb pollution.

The US consul general expressed keen interest in education, climate-resilient agriculture, skills development and export promotion, terming Pakistan a natural ally.

He appreciated Faisalabad’s rapid development and assured a follow-up visit for further engagement.

The commissioner presented a commemorative shield to the visiting envoy, who thanked the administration for its warm hospitality.
