JARANWALA:

Seven passengers, including two women, sustained severe burn injuries when a passenger van caught fire on Jaranwala Road near Central Jail in the limits of Saddar police station on Saturday.

According to initial reports, the van was travelling from Jaranwala to Faisalabad and was carrying fireworks inside the vehicle.

A petrol leakage reportedly came into contact with the fireworks, triggering a sudden blaze that quickly engulfed the van.

As a result of the fire, seven passengers suffered serious burn injuries.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene, managed to control the fire, and provided immediate first aid to the injured.

All the victims were later shifted to the burn unit of Allied Hospital for further treatment. The van was completely gutted in the incident.

The fire caused panic in the area, with a large number of citizens gathering at the scene. Traffic on the main Jaranwala Road remained blocked for some time, creating inconvenience for commuters.

Upon receiving information, DSP Saddar Faisalabad Khuda Bakhsh Awan, SHO Saddar Rana Muhammad Ali, and other police officials reached the spot and initiated legal proceedings.

Police said investigations were under way to determine how fireworks were being transported in the passenger van and to fix responsibility for negligence.
